Baltimore Grow Up Initiative (BGUI) is a Baltimore-based nonprofit organization using urban agriculture, vertical farming, education, technology, and workforce development as tools for community empowerment and economic opportunity.
We believe agriculture can do more than produce food. It can develop skills, create careers, inspire entrepreneurship, strengthen neighborhoods, improve access to fresh food, and help communities build sustainable pathways toward ownership and generational wealth.
Through hands-on education and community partnerships, BGUI introduces youth and adults to hydroponics, vertical farming, sustainable agriculture, STEEM education, entrepreneurship, and the rapidly evolving technologies shaping the future of food production.

Our mission is to empower communities through education, workforce development, sustainable agriculture, and innovation.
BGUI creates hands-on learning opportunities that connect agriculture, science, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, and sustainability with practical skills and real-world economic opportunities.

We envision a Baltimore where communities have the knowledge, resources, infrastructure, and economic opportunities necessary to grow and thrive.
Through a community investment model, BGUI will bring together residents, nonprofits, schools, businesses, faith-based institutions, growers, government agencies, and community leaders around a shared objective: creating sustainable systems that produce measurable benefits for the people and neighborhoods they serve.
Baltimore is the foundation of this vision. Our goal is to develop, demonstrate, and strengthen the model throughout Baltimore and Maryland before expanding it into additional communities.
BGUI is reimagining community empowerment through an agricultural and sustainability lens. We believe many long-standing goals of community development—quality education, meaningful employment, economic opportunity, food security, entrepreneurship, safe and thriving neighborhoods, and community ownership—can be advanced through practical, locally driven solutions.
Our vision extends beyond growing food.
We seek to create an ecosystem where residents can learn skills, earn credentials, pursue careers, create businesses, produce food, develop community assets, and build pathways toward ownership and generational wealth.

BGUI was created with Baltimore at its center.
We are committed to working alongside residents and building meaningful partnerships with community organizations, schools, nonprofits, businesses, faith institutions, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Our approach is based on community participation, collaboration, measurable impact, and sustainable investment rather than temporary solutions.
We don't just grow plants.
We grow people.
We grow opportunity.
We grow communities.
We grow the future.
